A work in progress...page 3
Page three of my proposed Fabric Art Journal!
Ifyou said that I have absolutely no idea of how to produce a FAJ,you'd be correct!
It's not as easy as I thought it would be;particularly after seeing what fantastic fibre works the other members of the group are producing....it's a steep learning curve.
My theme is loosely based on "Alice through the Looking-glass".
Remember, I did say "loosely"......once Alice goes through the looking glass in MY version(sorry Mr Carroll) she lands in "Stitching land",and I'm attempting to chart her progress through new stitchery methods.
First up,she meets the X-stitch queen!
(Nothing at all like the patient lady who attempted to set me on the yellow brick x-stitch road)
and that is where I am now.........with an impatient CROSS queen!
The green lines are proposed stitch lines;
The tape measure? Just one of the tools in a stitcher's work basket.
The queen I first stitched in rayon thread, then I overpainted with Lumiere Halo violet-gold.
The crown will probably be gold thread and gold delica beads.
The Face mold I made is too big for the figure....I did mold before the sketching and stitching....bad move!
Go FASTER! she commanded!

*very* big grin LOVE it! Dynamic action there with the Queen dragging you along! And i like the style of the figures!
I, too, like the Queen dragging you off to the next thing. I'm find that as I work on these journals the inspiration comes. Looking forward to your next page.
I'm enjoying your journal page and the thought behind it. Good idea!
I'm new to it too and I'm going on a short course at the end of the month, but this one is a stitched altered book which I would think is similar and I have found a book on Queen Elizabeth 1st. Hoping there will be a lot of stitch opportunity there.
I'm unfamiliar with this art form but I'm so enjoying your journey and I'm following along.
Your work is wonderful and it must be fun to "write" with thread and beads. What a great book you're going to have.
Hugs and thanks for the email this morning. I've read it three times more and I still giggle. :)
